The idea of this project was to show similar motives in Maori and Ukrainian folcklore and culture and depict it. I find it very exciting to discover differences and similarities among civilizations of the Earth.
Rehua Wilson and I illustrated water creatures from our native cultures who have the same dauties and habitats. Both Taniwha and Vodyanyk are mythological water characters who protect ponds but also can help people with their interaction with rivers, lakes and ocean.
Hand-drawn line characters which are created by Rehua Wilson are decorated with digitaly made water flora and fauna elements. I added animals and plants that can be found either in New Zealand or Ukraine to show the difference between nature in these climatic and geographical zones.
